Privacy
Everything Dipity knows stays on your phone, and it only talks to other phones within Bluetooth range. Some of what it shares with them is not private, and this policy says which.
Effective October 7, 2026.
What we collect
Nothing. Dipity is made by Coracle Social LLC ("Coracle", "we"), and the app never connects to Coracle or to anyone else over the internet. We don't run a service it reports to, we don't use analytics or advertising tools, and we never receive your posts, your contacts or your location.
If you download Dipity from Google Play or the App Store, Google or Apple may collect information about that download and about crashes under their own privacy policies.
What stays on your phone
- Your key. Your identity is a cryptographic key, created on your phone and kept in the phone's secure storage. Anyone who has it can post as you. It only leaves your phone if you back it up or move it to another phone of yours.
- Posts and pictures, yours and the ones your phone has collected from others. They are stored on your phone without additional encryption, so anyone with access to an unlocked phone can read them.
- Who handed you what. Your phone records which phones it received each post from and passed it to, and when. This is never shared with anyone, but it is a record of who you were near, so it would be visible to someone who took and unlocked your phone.
- Your settings, and the names you've given the people you've paired with.
What the people you meet learn
Dipity works by meeting people, so some things are shared with the phones yours connects to.
- Who you are, and that you were there. When your phone connects to another, it shares your public key, which identifies you on Dipity, and so reveals that you were nearby at that moment. With the app open, your phone introduces itself to anyone nearby. With it closed, it meets a few strangers a day, or none if you turn that off in settings.
- Your posts, to the people your settings allow: only people you've paired with, or anyone you meet. People you've paired with may pass your posts on once more, but Dipity never carries a post more than two hops from you.
- Proof that you wrote something. When you let people pass your posts on, Dipity gives each of them your signature on the post, which proves you wrote it to anyone they show it to. People further along only receive proof that is meaningless to anyone else.
- The names you give people travel with your posts, following the same settings. Your list of blocked and muted people goes only to people you've paired with, and your bookmarks go to nobody.
Your phone uses a fresh, temporary identifier for every connection, so nothing it broadcasts can be used to recognize it later. That makes you harder to follow, but not impossible to follow. Someone who stays near you, or places receivers around town, can still observe when your phone is present. Dipity does not make you untrackable.
Pictures
Before a picture is shared, Dipity shrinks it and removes the information your camera stored in the file, including its location.
What other people can do
Anyone who receives your post can keep it, copy it or screenshot it, and Dipity can't stop them. When you delete one of your posts, Dipity asks every phone that has it to delete it too, and the app honours that request, but a modified app or a screenshot would not.
Removing your data
Everything Dipity stores is on your phone, so uninstalling the app deletes it. Your posts on other people's phones fade on their own after a while unless they bookmark them. If you back up your key, keep the backup somewhere safe, and delete it when you no longer need it.
Children
Dipity is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date above. The app itself has no way to reach you, so check back from time to time.
